Welcome to Ezra’s Notes
You don’t need a finance degree or a seat on Wall Street to have an edge. What you need is the right process — and the discipline to keep things simple.
Ezra’s Notes is for long-term investors who want to understand companies and get better at investing, without the complexity that passes for rigor across most of the industry.
Here’s what you’ll get:
Interviews with value investors of every kind — the well-known names, and the ones you only find when you turn over a rock.
Investment theses and company commentary, built the way I’d build them for a fund — not stock tips.
A synthesis of what the best shareholder letters are actually saying, so you don’t have to read forty of them yourself.
I never studied finance, and I never worked at an investment firm. I learned to analyze and value companies the way a value investor does entirely on my own — through books, studying real investment theses, one company at a time.
Nine years inside MOI Global gave me access to the content and the community that sharpened that toolkit. It taught me the one thing that separates good long-term investors from everyone else: they keep it simple, and they resist the pull to complicate what doesn’t need complicating.
That’s why value investing resonated with me in the first place — you don’t need to overcomplicate things to be a good long-term investor.
Being a fan of The Ramones and Clint Eastwood sits inside that same philosophy — two acts that never needed more than three chords, or more words than a scene required, to become genre-defining. I think investing rewards the same restraint.
That same process is what a value-focused asset manager in Mexico brought me in to institutionalize — turning years of one person’s judgment into a system the whole team could run.
